GEO Pricing in 2026: What AI Search Optimization Costs (And What You Get)

Read MoreHosting bills, security patches, version upgrades, extension renewals, a developer retainer, and for Adobe Commerce a license priced on your revenue: that is the cost of ownership merchants leave when they move to BigCommerce. We move the catalog with its attribute sets, the customers with their groups, the full order history, the content, and every URL, rebuild the storefront on Stencil or Catalyst, rebuild B2B in B2B Edition, and cut over with nothing lost.

Magento to BigCommerce
Magento's EAV catalog, product types, customer groups, price rules, and store views all have BigCommerce equivalents, but none map one to one; the migration is a translation, and it has to be designed before anything moves. Here is what ours covers, run by the BigCommerce development team with Magento engineers on it.
Magento 1 or 2, Open Source or Adobe Commerce: attribute sets, product types (simple, configurable, bundle, grouped, virtual, downloadable), store views, customer groups, price rules, extensions, custom modules, integrations, and the cost you carry today, mapped to BigCommerce and priced. If BigCommerce cannot hold something you depend on, we say so first.
Growth, Scale, or Performance (the plan names since June 2026) sized to your volume and API needs, an embedded payment provider or your own gateway with the 2026 Open Payment Provider Fee understood, tax and shipping, and Multi-Storefront for the store views that need to stay separate.
Attribute sets become custom fields and metafields; configurable products become products with options (250 values each, 600 SKUs); bundles and grouped products become pick lists and product groupings; categories and brands moved with images and inventory. Counts reconciled product by product.
Customers with addresses and groups, store credit, and the complete order history with statuses, invoices, and shipments imported so reporting and support continue. Magento password hashes do not transfer; a reset campaign is planned.
A Luma or Hyvä theme cannot be ported, so we design and build on Stencil, or on Catalyst (Next.js) for headless speed, with page builder regions your team edits without a developer. See BigCommerce web design.
Customer groups, shared catalogs, tier pricing, and Adobe Commerce B2B companies, approvals, quotes, and requisition lists rebuilt in BigCommerce B2B Edition: company hierarchies, buyer roles, price lists, quotes, purchase orders, net terms, and quick order.
Catalog and cart price rules translated into BigCommerce promotions, price lists, and customer-group pricing; coupon codes carried across with their usage limits.
Each extension and custom module matched to a BigCommerce app, a native feature, or a custom integration through the open REST and GraphQL APIs: ERP, PIM, OMS, 3PL, search, subscriptions, reviews, loyalty, and marketplaces, tested with real orders.
A crawl and rankings baseline, every Magento URL and URL rewrite mapped one to one (BigCommerce keeps your structure), metadata, canonicals, and schema carried across, 301s loaded before launch, a rehearsed cutover with a delta sync, DNS at a quiet hour, and two weeks of daily monitoring, then support if you want it.
Why merchants move
We build on both and we are honest about it: Magento remains the right platform for stores whose pricing logic, integrations, or data residency need a platform they own, and we run that route too. For most mid-market merchants, the cost of ownership no longer earns its keep: an Adobe Commerce license from roughly $22,000 a year upward, hosting, patching, upgrades, and a retainer add up to three-year totals in the hundreds of thousands. BigCommerce gives up some control and gets rid of nearly all of that.
A hosted platform with security, scaling, PCI, and releases handled; the developer time you spent keeping Magento alive goes to growth instead.
A plan price instead of a license on revenue plus hosting plus a retainer, with embedded payments carrying no platform fee.
B2B Edition replaces the extensions and custom modules that handled companies, price lists, quotes, and purchase orders, and it updates itself.
REST and GraphQL with high limits on the Performance plan and Catalyst for a Next.js storefront, so the integration depth you had on Magento is not lost, just hosted.
Up to eight storefronts on Stencil and fifteen on Catalyst from one catalog and admin, for the regions, languages, and brands that lived in Magento store views.
250 values per option, 600 SKUs per product, 200 custom fields, 250 metafields, and categories to 16,000 deep; most Magento catalogs translate without compromise, and the audit flags any that would not.
On every Magento to BigCommerce migration
Whatever the Magento version or edition, these hold on every migration we run:
Another direction, or BigCommerce from a different platform? We run these routes too, and the free audit builds your task list in two minutes.
Six steps that keep rankings, customers, B2B, and integrations through the move: an audit and fit assessment first, the data model translated before anything moves, the storefront built in parallel, SEO as its own workstream, a rehearsed cutover, and two weeks of watching afterward. Typically ten to sixteen weeks.
Inventory of the Magento store, its extensions, modules, and integrations; the translation to BigCommerce; the plan recommendation; a fixed price. Start with the free audit.
Attribute sets, product types, customer groups, price rules, and store views translated; a full test migration into staging; counts reconciled and corrected.
Stencil or Catalyst storefront designed and built in parallel, with the custom features your modules provided.
B2B Edition configured and verified with real accounts, integrations connected and tested with real orders, the redirect map built and loaded, schema and meta in place.
A rehearsed cutover with a delta sync, DNS switched at a quiet hour, sitemap submitted, the Magento store kept until the last order is confirmed.
Daily checks of rankings, crawl errors, orders, and speed for two weeks, training for your team, and the old servers decommissioned once everything is verified.
Stores that left self-hosted platforms for BigCommerce with us and kept everything that mattered.

“MAK is literally my go-to developer for Volusion and BigCommerce. I have used Mary many times and will continue to do so. I have not found a more reliable and knowledgeable person to handle all of our technical issues with both platforms. I made the mistake of going with a company that I thought was bigger and better. I ended up having to hire MAK to fix all of their mistakes that would have cost me hundreds of thousands in lost sales. It's important to have a full understanding of the database structures and business rules of each platform. MAK really understands the fine details behind these platforms. MAK has truly earned my trust for life.”

“Mary is the person you need to know and work with if you have a Volusion site. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all things Volusion and we couldn't have set up our store the way we wanted to without her, and it looks great! Thank you Mary and Mak Digital.”
Send us your store URL. We will reply with a fit assessment, what BigCommerce can and cannot hold from your Magento setup, the task list, and a fixed price.
Versions and editions, cost, catalog translation, B2B, extensions, SEO, downtime, and timelines.
Cost of ownership and maintenance. Hosting, security patches, version upgrades, extension renewals, a developer retainer, and for Adobe Commerce a license priced on revenue add up to three-year totals in the hundreds of thousands for a mid-market store. BigCommerce removes the servers and most of the retainer, keeps native B2B and open APIs, and charges a known plan price. Stores that need Magento's custom logic or data residency should stay, and we will say so.
Yes. Magento 1 has been end of life since 2020 and is the most common source we see; Magento 2 Open Source, Mage-OS, and Adobe Commerce (including B2B) migrate the same way with their own mappings.
Attribute sets become custom fields and metafields; configurable products become products with options (250 values each, 600 SKUs per product); bundles and grouped products become pick lists and groupings; downloadable products become digital products. The audit flags any product that would exceed a limit so it is planned, not discovered.
Customer groups and tier pricing become customer groups and price lists; Adobe Commerce B2B companies, approvals, quotes, requisition lists, and purchase orders are rebuilt in BigCommerce B2B Edition with company hierarchies, buyer roles, net terms, and quick order, and verified with real buyer accounts before launch.
Each is matched to a BigCommerce app, a native feature (reviews, cart recovery, shipping quotes, promotions, and faceted search are built in), or a custom integration through the APIs; the audit lists every one and its replacement before you commit.
BigCommerce charges nothing on its embedded payments and, from June 2026, an Open Payment Provider Fee of roughly 2, 1, or 0.6 percent by plan on third-party gateway, offline, and purchase order orders. We model it against your current gateway and Magento costs in the fit assessment.
No; Magento password hashes cannot be imported. Customers, addresses, groups, and history move; we plan a reset campaign with your email tool so returning customers log in once and continue.
Not with the SEO workstream we run: a crawl and rankings baseline, one-to-one redirects for every indexed URL and URL rewrite into a structure BigCommerce lets you keep, metadata and schema carried across, and daily monitoring for two weeks. Badly redirected migrations lose 20 to 50 percent of organic traffic; ours are built to lose none.
No. The Magento store sells until the final delta sync; DNS switches at a quiet hour with redirects already live, and the old store stays available until the last order is confirmed on BigCommerce, after which the servers are decommissioned.
Ten to sixteen weeks for most stores, longer with enterprise B2B, many store views, or ERP in the critical path. Cost depends on catalog complexity, B2B scope, the storefront, and integrations; the quote is fixed after the audit, and some BigCommerce migrations qualify for our free migration offer.
